Non-numerical Series
The concept of "Non-numerical Series" originated from its corresponding "Numerical Series".
In the "Numerical Series", TAO Dance Theatre turns the characteristics of body movement into the direction of exploration, allowing the body to release its vitality in repetitive and restricted movements. While building a unique aesthetic system, it also uncovers a broader realm of speculation. However, the movement style and texture each piece points to are very clear. During the creative extraction process, a vast amount of experimental materials are inevitably produced. Therefore, the "Non-numerical Series" carries some more exploratory, open and experimental content generated during the exploration process of the "Numerical Series". As Tao Ye said, "We rehearse in the dance studio every day, and many traces of exploration have not been preserved. So we also hope to convey these explorations through the form of the stage and turn them into works."
Tao Ye once mentioned in an interview that another reason for the birth of the "Non-numerical Series" is that TAO Dance Theater wants to expand into a broader space, achieve diverse exchanges and cooperation with other art forms, and touch upon more language materials.
